Australia Women once again presented their class at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025defeat Pakistani women by 107 runs in the 9th match at R.Premadasa Stadium, Khettarama.

Electing to bowl first after winning the toss, Pakistan gained early breakthroughs, but Beth Mooney‘s magnificent century guided the Australians to a competitive score of 221 for 9 in their 50 overs. Mooney’s sublime knock of 109 off 114 balls, laced with 11 boundaries, was the backbone of the innings.
Australia struggled in early matches as opener Alyssa Healy (20) And Phoebe Litchfield (10) fell cheap, followed by rapid layoffs of Ellyse Perry And Annabel Sutherland. However, Mooney held firm in the face of collapse, establishing a crucial partnership with Alana Kingwho contributed a quickfire 51 off 49 deliveries, including 3 fours and 3 sixes. The duo rescued Australia from 85 for 6 to post a fighting total. For Pakistan, Nashra Sandhu was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets for 37 runs, while Rameen Shamim (2/29) and Sana Fatima (2/49) also performed impressively.
Pakistan’s strike falters under pressure
Chasing 222 for victory, Pakistan’s batting line-up failed to find any rhythm against a disciplined Australian bowling attack. Only SIDRA AMEEN offered some resistance with a total of 35 off 52 deliveries, but the wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals. None of the other batters were able to establish partnerships as the Australian bowlers maintained relentless pressure throughout the innings.
Kim Garth was the star with the ball, producing an outstanding spell of 3 for 14 in 6 overs, including the prized wickets of Sidra Nawaz And Eyman Fatima. Megan Schutt and Sutherland completed his efforts with two wickets each, while King, Ashley GardnerAnd Georgia Wareham I picked up one each. Pakistan were eventually bundled out for just 114 in 36.3 overs, well short of the target.
Mooney’s masterful innings earned her the Player of the Match award as her knock proved decisive in setting up Australia’s emphatic victory.
