Season 2 of generation V may have just sealled the fate of Marie Moreau

This article contains spoilers For “Gen V” season 2, episode 4, “bags”.
Thus, Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) is now explicitly chosen in the journey of a hero. In the universe “The Boys”. Surely it will end well.
Before this episode, season 2 of “Gen V” has already played with the idea that Marie is not only a hero, but also THE hero. During the first of the season, “New Year, New U”, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) corresponds to the Proverbial Cape on Marie by recruiting the young of blood bending as a starlighter and ending with the mission of understanding what the mysterious Odessa project is. Marie and Jordan Li (London Thor and Derek Luh) even share a little dark laugh on this subject, noting that the “chosen” tend to be white males of the Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), Neo de “The Matrix” Fame (Keanu Reeves) and Frodo from the variety of “Lord of the Rings” (Elijah Wood).
“The bags”, however, clearly shows that it is no longer a game. During their training, Dean Cipher (Hamish Linklater) says directly to Mary that she is all the interest of God U and the Odessa superpower project: the Supe which has the potential to become the strongest of all, to and most likely “the boys” Big Bad Homelander (Antony Starr). In other words, Marie now looks at the exactly chosen fate by which she specifically has committed to avoid … and taking into account the franchise of which she is a part, this new status depicts a huge narrative target on her back.
Boys and generation V are not nice to heroes
Marie’s potential has been teased several times, and let’s face it, it East Technically an orphan with mysterious powers. However, the “bags” mark the first time that an initiate Vought said she could be able to defeat Homelander. In any other show, it would send him on a classic path to defeat evil. Too bad it is “Gen V”, and there are no heroes here.
The “boys” and his spin-off have repeatedly shown what happens to people who try to be superheroes or traditional protagonists. On “The Boys”, you can count the so-called heroic Crimefighter Sups which are not secretly twisted, horrible or corrupt with one hand and still have fingers to spare. “Gen V” The season 1 also presents the Paragon Golden Boy of the new generation (Patrick Schwarzenegger), who could have been a semi-decent guy if it was not for the fact that Vought used his girlfriend, Cate (Maddie Phillips), to play several times with his brain. Even the darkest anti -hero types tend to stand up at some point in their journey – you just have to ask Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), who is almost ready to become the kind of villain that even Homelander could fear when “The Boys” ends with season 5.
So where does it leave Marie? In a bad place, surely. Being a hero, not to mention an elected official, is not a great thing in this universe – historically is a dark omen of danger, despair and death. Now that Mary’s path and potential have been stated, she seems much more likely to undergo a shocking, tragic and / or extremely embarrassing destiny than becoming the strongest Supe and having a happy ever.
Season 2 of “Gen V” is broadcast on Prime Video, with new episodes falling on Wednesday.
