Google was informed by an American jury to pay $ 425 million to have violated the privacy of tens of millions of users who have chosen the use of the functional monitoring application.

The San Francisco jury returned the verdict on Wednesday after a group of Google users accused the technology giant of continuing to collect data from third -party applications, even when they have changed the parameters of their account to prevent practice.

Google said the decision had misunderstood the operation of its products and that it was planning to appeal.

“Our privacy tools give people control their data, and when they deactivate personalization, we honor this choice,” said Google spokesperson Jose Castaneda in a press release.

In their trial, the complainants allegedly alleged that Google had collected and sold the activity data of the mobile applications of users in violation of confidentiality insurance contained in its web activity and applications parameters.

The pursuit, filed in July 2020, covered some 98 million Google users.

During the trial, Google had argued that the data collected was “non -personal” and “pseudonyms” and stored in “seged, secure and encrypted locations”.

Google has faced a number of other recent prosecution related to privacy.

In May, the technology giant agreed to pay $ 1.375 billion in the state of Texas to claim that it had collected the geometry of the facials of residents and votes of voice without appropriate consent, and followed the locations of users even when they removed the functionality.
