Although inflation rates have cooled in recent years, participants open in the United States could always live the aftertaste by sipping the emblematic drink of the tennis championship.
The so-called Honey Deuce has a price that draws eyes of $ 23. Although the drink costs the same thing as last year, it has had six price increases since 2012 – and has exceeded inflation in the last decade.
Vodka drink has become synonymous with the New York -based event. It is decorated with pieces of melon with honeydew that look like tennis bullets and are served in a souvenir glass.
Despite the high cost, the US Open sold more than 550,000 of the cocktail last year, generating nearly $ 13 million in income, according to NBC New York.
While tennis fans descend to New York for the two -week event, CNBC calculated the way in which Honey Deuce’s price change has resisted wider inflation.
Honey Deuce enthusiasts land about 53% more than in 2015, when the drink cost $ 15, according to Price Tracker from Sporto.
It is higher than broader inflation, as follows in the consumer price index, or ICC. The ICC, which monitors a large basket of goods and services, increased by around 36% between August 2015 and July 2025, the last month with available data.
In other words, if the honey deuce increased in tandem with overall inflation, it would cost about $ 20.33 today. The US Tennis Association, which operates the facilities where the American opening is held, has not responded to the request for CNBC comments.
The price of the Honey Deuce also increased to a faster clip than other alcoholic drinks bought outside houses in American cities. This average cost increased by almost 34% between August 2015 and July 2025, which means that it experienced slightly lower inflation than the IPC overall basket.
