Chinese President Xi Jinping told the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres that China supports the World Organization playing a central role in international affairs and that it confirms “real multilateralism”, according to the Chinese state diffuser CCTV.
XI shared this message with Guterres on Saturday while the UN chief visited China to attend the Shanghai 2025 cooperation organization.
China will remain a reliable UN partner, added President XI.
For his part, Guterres told Xi: “China’s support … is an extremely important element to preserve.”
The 25th SCO summit and the “SCO Plus” meeting will be held on Sunday and Monday in Tianjin in northern China, presenting the solidarity of the world worldwide.
The high -level rally intervenes in the midst of increasing geopolitical tensions, in particular the current war of Russia in Ukraine, the genocide of Israel in Gaza and its growing aggression against the occupied West Bank, the security tensions in South Asia and the World Commercial Region of Asia, the Thailand trade war and Cambodia, and the President Donald Trump, Trump.
As a rotary chair, XI will chair the summit, which marks the fifth SCO annual summit organized by China.
Managers of more than 20 countries and heads of 10 international organizations will attend the summit.
Among the participants, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Iranian President Masood Pezeshkian and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
XI will also meet Erdogan on the touch of the crucial summit.
The agenda of the summit includes the promotion of “the spirit of Shanghai”, the improvement of internal mechanisms and the promotion of multilateral cooperation in fields such as security, economics and culture.
A joint signature of the new Tianjin declaration and the approval of a strategy for the next decade are the other expected results.
The summit will publish declarations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Second World War against Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan, and the 80th founding anniversary of the United Nations, in addition to adopting a series of documents of results on the strengthening of security, the economy, people to people and cultural cooperation.
Founded in 2001, SCO is a political and security alliance comprising 10 members: China, Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tadjikistan, Ouzbekistan and Bélarus.
The Chinese chief will also welcome Putin and the North Korean leader Kim Jong one during a large-scale military parade on September 3 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Asia.
