Grimsby 2 – 2 Man Utd

Manchester United struck a new hollow under Ruben Amorim while they underwent an embarrassing defeat against Grimsby Town in the second round of the Carabao cup after an epic penalty shootout after two errors of goalkeeper Andre Onana.
The pressure was already based on Amorim after having failed to win one or the other of their first first League games and now, without European football, their chances of silverware this season have suffered a blow.
Bryan Mbeumo missed the 26th penalty of a marathon shooting to send the League two team after the draw finished 2-2 in normal times.
Onana, making her first appearance of the season, was at fault for the two goals of Grimsby, allowing the 22nd minute strike of Charles Vernan to go through his near post before missing his punch at a cross which gave Tyrell Warren a Tap-in eight minutes later.
“It’s Crash television with regard to United and Onana,” said Sky Sports’ Alan Smith on Co-Eloge. “It always transmits to your defenders if your goalkeeper is a nervous wreck.”
Grimsby then refused a third in the second half when the strike from Cameron Gardner was excluded controversial for the offside after Harry Maguire was intentionally found the ball, which made the attacker pass to the goal.
Three minutes later, Mbeumo, who arrived at halftime, withdrew one with an effort placed for his first goal for Man Utd. The visitors threw everything in Grimsby late and finally their pressure brought its fruit when Maguire left in a corner with two remaining minutes.
But the man UTD failed to hold his nerve with Matheus Cunha when he saw his kick saved when he had the chance to win the shooting, before Mbeumo misses with his second attempt to collapse the pressure on Amorim.
