Emma Sears raises the race in Louisville Past Wave with a 59th minute strike

Emma Sears collected her seventh goal in the campaign and the race in Louisville won her first game since the international break, beating the host San Diego Wave 1-0 Sunday evening.
Louisville (7-6-4, 25 points) remained seventh in the ranking, four points away from the Gotham FC of eighth place in the pursuit of the playoffs. Before Sunday, the race had lost once and pulled twice this month; Their last victory returned on June 20, 2-0 on the Orlando Pride.
Jordyn Bloomer was put to work and made eight stops to keep a white sheet for Louisville. The last one came at the first minute of the second half when Melanie Barcenas tried a left foot from the outside of the box.
The wave (8-4-5, 29 points) has undergone its first defeat since June 6 despite exceeding their visitors 22-12 in total and 8-2 to the goal. Kalen Sheridan made a safeguard for San Diego.
The 59th minute sequence that broke the aimless tie started on Ella Hase’s feet, which lost possession on the left flank but recognized it with a sliding tackle which struck the free ball of his teammate.
Hase took the ball at the corner of the box before putting a crossroads in the center of Sears, which checked it with his chest. His shot at the furthest post went rightly by his defender and was well out of the reach of Sheridan.
