On Wednesday, a crowd of 20 anti-glossy demonstrators wiped and attacked immigration agents outside a courthouse in San Francisco, with an agitator dressed in Keffiyeh who would have been armed with a knife threatening to stab an officer and go after his family, officials said.

Adrian Guerrero, an American citizen, reduced the tire of a government vehicle during the confrontation at the Immigration Palace on 100 Montgomery Street, according to the Department of Internal Security (DHS).

The incident took place as the ice agents carried out a withdrawal operation, when demonstrators surrounded them and physically attacked four officers, launching punches and deployment of pepper gas.

Standing in the length of the arm, Guerrero has made repeated threats, saying: “I will make you pass”, “I will continue your family” and “I will stab you”, according to the DHS, citing the court documents.

At the time of his arrest, the suspect had a knife, orange tinged glasses and a patterned keffiyeh, a scarf often associated with pro-Palestinian activism.

The agents were injured by the peppery gas and an officer suffered a stuck finger.

Guerrero was accused of assault against a federal officer and the destruction of government property, according to the DHS.

The American federal protection services and the San Francisco police responded and helped clean the region, said the DHS.

DHS secretary Kristi Noem said that ice agents faced a 1,000% increase in attacks, calling them “the worst of the worst criminal foreigners”.

“These acts of violence are fueled by the rhetoric of the sanctuary politicians who disseminates our police,” said Noem.

“We will not let this violence stop or slow down. Each day, our police continue to apply the law and stop the most depraved criminals, including pedophiles, terrorists, murderers, gang members and sexual predators.”

The Montgomery Street courthouse was the site of several violent clashes between demonstrators and ice agents. Last month, the video surfaced similar scuffles outside the court.

The demonstrators have long opposed the practice of the ICE to hold individuals in the courthouses, to criticize the use of plainclothes officers and unmarked vehicles as tactics who claim to spread fear and reduce responsibility.

The attack occurred for weeks after violent riots in Los Angeles, where ice agents were attacked during the demonstrations of the courthouse – part of what DHS dit is a strong national increase in attacks against his officers.
