OPENAI says that chatgpt is on the right track to reach 700m weekly users

The impressive growth of chatgpt as a consumer publication continues while the chatbot is on the right track to reach 700 million weekly active users this week, the company says.
The application had previously reached 500 million weekly active users at the end of March, noted Nick Turley, VP Openai and the head of the Chatgpt application, in an article on X. He also declared that the application had increased 4x since last year.
“Every day, people and teams learn, create and solve more difficult problems. Big week in advance. Recognizing the team for having made the Chatppt more useful and to deliver our mission so that everyone can benefit from AI,” he published.
The popularity of the application increased after OpenAi launched an improved image generation function, fueled by the GPT-4 model in March. In early April, the company’s COO, Brad Lightcap, said that more than 130 million users had created more than 700 million images in just a few days after the launch.
The company also experienced an increase in subscribers. Lightcap said last week that Chatgpt had 5 million paid commercial users, compared to 3 million in June.
In a recent report, the company of the Intelligence Company Market Sensor Tower noted that users use Chatppt for more than 12 days a month on average, only behind Google and X. The report also indicates that in H1 2025, users spent an average of 16 minutes a day on the application.
