The first mass shooting of the Turks and Caicos kills 3, hurts 10, says the police

Three young men were killed and 10 others injured early on Sunday in a popular nightclub in the Turkish islands and caïcos in what the authorities called the first mass shooting in British territory in recent history. The shooting took place on the most populated, providial island.
The injuries went from minor to grave, said police commissioner Fitz Bailey. Nine of the injured people were shot, said Governor Aya Williams.
Providencial Hospital was on locking to protect those treated for their injuries, said Williams. At least two of the injured were managed abroad for subsequent treatment, she said.
At least four suspects were involved in the shooting, but no one was arrested, according to Bailey, who called him “deeply disturbing”.
“We now have a gangland type murder, and a large part of this gang violence seems to be concentrated in our Haitian communities,” said Prime Minister Charles Washington Misck at a press conference.
He called on the Haitian community to cooperate with the police, saying that some of them know how firearms are introduced as a smuggling in the Turkish islands and caïcos.
“What is happening here is nothing like we’ve ever seen before,” he said. “This is not a situation that we must accept.”
A reward of $ 10,000 is offered for any information leading to the capture of suspects, said Bailey. A pattern had not yet been determined.
The shooting occurs when the archipelago is repressed on illegal immigration.
It is estimated that 10,900 Haitians live in the Turkish islands and caicos, which represents a third of the population of the territory. According to the United Nations Humanitarian Affairs Office, around 80% of Haitians live in Providence and 20% have a permanent residence.
THE US State Department Travel Council For the Turkish islands and caicos is a level 2, the exercise has increased caution.
The main reason is the crime, says the ministry. “Most crimes occur in Providence. The police may have limited investigation resources,” said the opinion.
The advice of the ministry for the Americans who choose to go to the islands understand “avoid walking alone and at night” and “do not physically resist any attempted theft”.
