The best teams compete as Lynx returns home to face Mercury

The Lynx of Minnesota avenged a defeat during his four-game road trip and try to demand the return on investment for the other when they face the Phoenix Mercury on their return on Wednesday afternoon.
The match is between the two best teams in the WNBA ranking.
The lynx closed the trip with a 91-78 victory at Chicago Sky on Monday after losing in Chicago three days earlier. Now comes a chance against Mercury after losing in Phoenix 79-71 last Wednesday.
The Lynx (19-4) gave Mercury (15-6) their worst loss of the season, 88-65, during their last meeting in Minneapolis on June 3.
The Alyssa Thomas du Mercury collected a 29-point career summit in the match last Wednesday and entered the revenge match of a 78-77 victory at the Golden State Valkyries on Monday when Thomas made one of the two free throws with a remaining second.
“You need matches like this,” said Phoenix coach Nate Tibbetts, whose team won three in a row and 9 out of 11 “We did not have many difficult matches on the road.”
The Minnesota won two of the first three games against Phoenix, with the last match in the series of the season taking place on Wednesday. It is also the last night of the league action before the stars break.
The Dewanna Bonner of Mercury had 22 points of season and 11 rebounds on the bench against the Valkyries on Monday, her second match since her return to Mercury after being canceled by Indiana fever.
“She resumes her legs under her,” said Tibbetts. “A veteran presence that saw anything. She won championships. This group needed this play.”
The lynx received 29 points from Napheesa Collier, 18 from Courtney Williams and 17 from Kayla McBride against the sky on Monday. They limited Chicago to 32 points in the second half and had 14 interceptions in the match, which led to 24 reversal points.
“The game has become physically hard hard,” said Minnesota coach, Cheryl Reeve, “and we hoped we could wear them, and I think it happened a little.”
Williams added a top of eight rebounds and seven assists.
“It is a testimony of” Phee “,” said Williams about his rebounds. “The reason why I have eight is because it does the work of the big dog and I immerse myself and I will get it.”
The Mercury, which on average a summit of 10.1, made baskets from 3 points per game, went 1 out of 16 in the last week against the Lynx, and is 9 out of 72 in the season series.
“Our identity is our defense,” said Williams. “We know that when we rely on our defense and that we bring energy on defense, our offense follows.”
