50 days at the Women’s World Cup ICC, BCCI and ICC always without any idea of M Chinnaswamy Stadium
The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru was supposed to host the opening of the 2025 women’s World Cup, two games from India, a semi-final and the final.

Doubt on the M Chinnaswamy stadium

The state government accepting the report and quickly announcing the plans to build a new stadium of 80,000 inhabitants in Bommasandra, the long -term future of the Chinnaswamy stadium is in doubt. However, what about the short term? Will this welcome the matches of the Women’s World Cup? What about national games and IPL 2026? There is no clarity. But in all likelihood, the reigning champions IPL RCB could be homeless in IPL 2026. They could temporarily move their base to Vishakhapatnam.
What place will welcome women’s World Cup matches?
If the government of the State denies permission to host matches of the Women’s World Cup, the BCCI and the ICC will be forced to watch alternative places. The Ma Chidambaram stadium in Chennai is excluded because it is being renovated in the field. With five places already selected by the ICC for the 2025 Women’s World Cup, these five games, including the finals, are likely to be moved to one of them.
Aca-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam seems to be the ideal choice for the BCCI. The place will host five group games, including two matches from India. The only concern for the sites is the late monsoon rain. Since Chinnaswamy has an excellent drainage system, he obtained accommodation rights for the final.
