Tumbleweed continues to blow through Montana after the end of the last season of “Yellowstone”, fans were still waiting to see what the future has in store for the Dutton family. Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser settle in their derived series which will not yet be named, taking up their roles of Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, respectively, but there is still no confirmation at the moment when we can expect to see him. This also applies to the third prequelle series, “1944”, which will result from “1923”, after its end of April this year.

Well, you’re lucky, because a perfect stand-in has arrived on the other side of the pond, and you don’t need to change streaming service to find it.
Starting in March on Paramount +, “Mobland” has a collection of criminally offensive talents led by Tom Hardy as Harry Da Souza, the muscle and one-man cleaning team for the Harrigan family, which is led by Conrad and Maeve Harrigan (Pierce Brosnan and former Dutton of “1923,” Helen Mirren, respectively). Now we know that making comparisons with “Yellowstone” so early in the first season is a great statement, but not only “Mobland” has enough to take care of you at the moment, but there is also enough to build a television empire.

The Harrigan family of Mobland is like Depituts
Just as the work of the Ranch des Duttons has taken a rear seat with more violence, criminal domination and travel at the “Yellowstone” station, “Mobland” of Paramount + does not try sugar the lifestyle of the harrigans. This family of crimes embodies their lifestyle, focusing on the guarantee that the rest of London recognizes the extent of their power. To achieve this, the story manufactured by Ronan Bennett (writer of the British drama acclaimed by the criticism “Top Boy”) presents Guy Ritchie as an executive producer and focuses on a family dynamic which reflects that of the Dettons in “Yellowstone”, both in the family hierarchy and the talent that gives it life.

Like the Taylor Sheridan clan with a Stetsons type clan had an A-Lister at the head of the family table with Kevin Costner in the role of John Dutton, “Mobland” presents Pierce Brosnan like Conrad Harrigan, at the heart and at the hot temperature, which is willing to do something to keep his family at the top. It is as long as Helen Mirren does not whistle in his ear while his ardent wife, Maeve, or former star of “House of the Dragon”, considering, as the son of the middle Kevin Harrigan, fights to maintain peace between families, a bit like Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) in his early years. In addition, as is compulsory with each shaded family, as John Dutton had a ranch hand willing to get their hands dirty with a family business out of books, the same goes for harrigans to clean things, and it could be difficult to decide which is the most terrifying.

Tom Hardy is Rip Wheeler of this family
One of the strengths of the whole series of “Yellowstone” was Cole Hauser as a family fixer, Rip Wheeler. A son of John Dutton in anything but Hauser’s problems was the anti-hero who quickly grew up to become the MVP of the show, making the idea of a spin-off “Yellowstone” which he directed with Kelly Reilly completely acceptable. In the case of Harry Da Souza, the Harrigan fixative is Rip’s transatlantic carbon copy, who does not need to throw his weight completely, simply because of the power of the stars that carries the character.

Tom Hardy has given life to many ferocious characters in the form of Charles Bronson, Bane, Alfie Salomon in “Peaky Blinders” and, more recently, Walker in hyperviolent “havoc”. Harry, on the other hand, is much more reserved, which is precisely why he is more scary. A robust powder barrel that has emergency plans for everything, looking at his intense reservation of manipulation scenarios and people he can make sing so easily, establishes Harry as an integral part of the family business, even if he is not bound by blood.
Like Wheeler, he is the son that the family’s head has never had, and wears a troubled past that molded him in the reliable and frank instrument that he is today. Harry is the fast and silent hammer that keeps the harrigans where they are in the criminal world of London, and just like Rip, he brandishes a cool wardrobe by doing it.

Mobland’s signature wardrobe could become as emblematic as Yellowstone
Just as “Yellowstone” brought back the hats, horses and cowboy boots on the radar, “Mobland” has a selected dress code for its characters who could make you ask you if you could remove them too. Lying up with the same kind of outfit as movies and television shows focused on Ritchie gangster has been brandishing for years, the London look without right is very present in “Mobland” and is just as important as what “Yellowstone” is plagued by. Dodge Chargers, Stetsons and Dusters are replaced by terrestrial Rovers, flat caps and Barbour jackets, making each character undeniably cool in a world that boasts of an aesthetic installed somewhere between “succession” and “The Gentlemen”.

This collection of clothes for fatal characters must be hung up somewhere, however, and as the Ranch Dutton was a character of his own, “Moband” has country houses on this violent world in which the features of the family. In another universe, Beth Dutton and Maeve Harrigan would recover from a drink or two while everyone is out of the property performing odious acts on enemies who think they can take the family. The difference is that maybe “Mobland” could be in hand on slightly more violent methods to do the work. Of course, “Yellowstone” could have the station, but “Mobland” has shipping containers by the Thames and the suitcases that store more than simple luggage.

Mobland can sometimes be as violent as Yellowstone
If you miss the brutal and ruthless nature of “Yellowstone” lately, the version of the Harrigans justice should certainly satisfy. After the series begins with the death of an opposing family member, the blood begins to flow and the bodies are discovered in some of the worst imaginable conditions and forcing Harry to do what it does best: to clean things. The eyewitnesses are tortured, the relatives are murdered and the deadliest weapon of Harry is a scary and hard look that he brandished almost all the episodes to ensure that some of them are made. It is in these moments of brutality, however, that Hardy offers us something a little different from what we saw him recently, offering a threat more silent than that imposing and breathtaking which is so fast to strike.

It is in violence, or in the organization of this one, that Hardy displays similar characteristics with the heavy family help of Hauser, while building anticipation for when he will lose his composure. Until now, the show has presented a reserved but just as ruthless person who has not yet reached the end of his fuse, but remains rooted in the blood and the butcher who sets the tone for the series that goes ahead. The timing of this moment is unknown, but as revealed by brief flashbacks connecting his youth with Kevin, as well as stories of the rise of Conrad, it is possible for “Mobland” to transcend its current limits and adopt the “Yellowstone” approach to create a whole new television franchise in the process.

Mobland has the massive potential for building the world of Yellowstone
Although it is only in its infancy, a story is already anchored in the base of “Mobland”, where it was originally something else. Maping as a fallout based in the United Kingdom of the world’s renowned fixer “Ray Donovan” (the Harrigans originally had this family name), the new story of Bennett is taking off in his own direction, but that does not mean that he cannot diversify in other avenues. Like “Yellowstone”, this new series has already details of history that can be explored, which potentially brings us back into the history of the rise of the Harrigans or the man so closely linked.

Just as we have seen how the Dents were born, the fiery leader of the Pierce Brosnan family already explained how he put the name Harrigan on the map and what it took to get there. Maybe if “Mobland” succeeds enough, we could see when Conrad started his criminal efforts and built a family in the process. As for Harry, without entering the spoilers, painful glimpses of the way in which he and Kevin Cross paths of Considine could create a series of prequelly concentrating more on Da Souza in his first years, just like Rip’s past was analyzed and has just become an integral part of the history “Yellowstone”. These opportunities can only be benefited if the “Mobland” is the success it is likely to be. For the moment, while we are waiting to return to the desolate and deadly world from Duttons, staying at home with the Harrigans and their top fix is a beautiful alternative to take care of us.
