15-year-old Mitchell Lawrie continues historic Lakeside run to WDF World Championship semi-finals | Darts News

Teenage sensation Mitchell Lawrie continued his historic run at Lakeside on Friday night, losing just three games in a dominant 4-0 win over Francois Schweyen to book a place in the semi-finals.
The pair exchanged tons of control in a tight first set before Lawrie sealed it with a 16 dart in the deciding match.
From there it was much smoother sailing for Lawrie, winning the second and fourth sets 3-0 while sealing the third with a brilliant 124.
The Scot, who only turned 15 last month, has once again averaged north of 90, this time a 92.06, and will meet compatriot Jenson Walker in the last four.
Lawrie became the youngest player to win a match at the iconic venue, breaking Luke Littler’s record which he set at Lakeside in 2022 when he qualified for the last 32 at the age of 15.
Elsewhere, Jimmy van Schie and Shane McGuirk played a true Lakeside classic in the final game of the evening with finishes of over three tons and 14 maximums.
2024 winner McGuirk started strongly, sweeping the first set 3-0 before van Schie leveled the scores with an excellent third set that featured finishes of 76 and 127.
The third set went down to the wire, with van Schie leading 2-0 with an 11-darter, van Schie struggling to get back to 2-2 before van Schie sealed it before the break with a 17-darter.
Sets four and five were both close, but van Schie had the advantage, winning three sets on the trot to win the fourth before holding back three shots to win the fifth set and finish with an average of 97.36.
“The Dutch Sequoia” will face Sybren Gijbels tomorrow evening in the semi-final.
