12-year-old Washington DC girl charged with multiple robberies

Authorities have charged a 12-year-old girl with multiple thefts, and the details will leave you shaken. Police say they were not acting alone and it appears the city’s juvenile delinquency problem is manifesting itself in very unexpected ways.

Kids Reportedly Pulled Off Quick Heist At Grocery Store, But They Were Quickly Caught
According to authorities, the unnamed girl was arrested on November 9 after police linked her to two robberies committed on the evening of October 5, just minutes apart. In the first incident, a group of children stopped a victim who was leaving a grocery store on a bicycle. Apparently one of the children threw another bicycle in front of the victim. And, while one of them initially tried to grab the bike, they ended up running off with the groceries.

Additionally, the second robbery occurred approximately 15 minutes later along the Metropolitan Branch Trail. Crazy enough, police say the same crew arrested a scooter rider by grabbing his backpack. One of the children took the scooter for a short ride before abandoning it when a police officer appeared. Additionally, one of them allegedly stole the victim’s phone, which was attached to the scooter. Police are still searching for the other juveniles involved, raising questions about the true scale of the incidents.
DC neighborhood is fed up with child stealers
Make no mistake…the neighbors are fed up and worried. Residents like Jean Phillippe and Cody Wolfe have expressed frustration with recurring juvenile crime in the area, pointing to previous thefts in May on the same trail. “It’s not good for a neighborhood“, Phillippe said. Wolfe added: “What is the city doing to ensure young people can do active things?» For the moment, the police hold the 12-year-old responsible but continue the hunt for the rest of the group.
“What is the city doing to make sure that young people have active activities that they can do to get out instead of, you know, always trying to engage in some sort of crime or some sort of thing that might get them in trouble,” Wolfe added. “What kind of things can we do for the city for young people? »
