With six seasons, two films and a third on the way, Downton Abbey Perhaps one of the most successful vintage dramas of all time – and for reason. The story of the Crawleys, a rich family that manages an area in the English countryside, is full of drama upstairs, romance, scandal and history. It began in 1912, and the story continued until 1926.
At the heart of this PBS series is the romance between Lady Mary Crawley (Michelle Dockery), the eldest daughter of the family and the distant parent Matthew Crawley ((And Stevens), who becomes the heir to the domain (who is not allowed to move to a woman) when the previous heir dies aboard the Titanic. The two younger sisters of Mary, Edith (Laura Carmichael) and Sybil (Jessica Brown Findlay), are also looking for weddings and dare to dream more when rights for women are starting to develop.
Downton staff also know its right part of the romantic drama, in particular between Mr. Bates (Brendan Coyle) and the maid Anna (Joanne Froggatt). The most memorable character of everyone is perhaps Lady Violet, the sly and clear dowager countess, played by the late, great Maggie Smith. Downton obtained 69 EMMY nominations during prime time during its race – the largest international series.
