Best hiking stove (2025): MSR, JetBoil, Firebox

The Firebox gas burner with its diffusion plate is by far the best in the hinterland cooking system. For many people, the hike does not concern food, but I found that, especially with the children, good food goes great to make the trip more pleasant. In fact, I rarely take my children without hiking without bringing this stove.
There are two parts in this system: the stove, which is the part of the box, and the burner, which connects to your isobutane cartridge. The secret here, and what makes it the best stove for cooking is the diffusion plate, which spreads the flame, which allows you to heat a 10 -inch pan. Yes, it is always cooler towards the edges, but this tiny small stove is just as capable of cooking as a full -scale Camp Camp. I cooked everything, fish that children caught with cinnamon rolls on this thing (often in combination with the 10 -inch pan).
As a bonus, the Nano Firebox (which serves as a support for the Firebox gas burner here) is also a stove with autonomous twigs and can hold a Trangia spiritual burner (see below), making it an extremely versatile hiking stove. It will not win you at the next / R / Ultraulight Get-Together (the Firebox Nano to itself weighs 4.25 ounces for the titanium version), but you could eat delicious food in the hinterland. Have I mentioned that it comes with a grill plate which transforms it into a tiny gas grill?
